Extraterra

The music from the upcoming opera project Zakuro was presented in collaboration with performance artist and choreographer Jas Lin, at the Extraterra exhibition from 13 October to 4 November 2021, organised and curated by Harlesden High Street and Diasporas Now during Frieze Week London.

Extraterra Exhibition Statement:

At once a lament and a proposition, Extraterra offers a home for hybrid identities: the alien, the chimeric, the diasporic.

Harlesden High Street and Diasporas Now present a multi-storey, post-apocalyptic labyrinth of ritual objects, live performances, paintings, and installations. The exhibition yearns toward ancestral knowledge and liberation, a visceral rooting to Earth, ether, and martian soil.

Extraterra forges a path forward, or rather inward – a collective manifestation of hope beyond the oppression of politicised, displaced, and intersectionality-marginalised bodies.

Harlesden High Street is a POC-led space with a mission to bridge social and cultural gaps in contemporary art, working with and providing resources for underrepresented artists.

Diasporas Now is a multidisciplinary performance art platform for artists of non-Western backgrounds who use performance as acts of self-representation.
